I actually made it a while ago and it has been in our front room ever since. I wanted to pick a phrase or quote that I wouldn't get tired of and that meant a little more to me than three very specific words. *cough* live, laugh, love *cough* Yeah... not really my style. Sorry.
This sign is actually a framed chalkboard that I found at Deseret Industries (I love that place! And so does David because of the toy isle. Haha!)
It actually took little to no work because the frame was already painted in a color that I really like. I pretty much just had to buy a chalk pen and I was good to go.
I tried using normal sidewalk chalk on this board and found that the words were kind of fuzzy and not very well defined. I'm pretty sure whoever had it before me painted it with chalkboard paint or something similar... And then gave up because the chalk didn't actually work on the "chalkboard paint"... which landed it at DI. Honestly a move I would probably make... if not for the creation of the chalkboard pen!
Just in case it was a surface that wouldn't allow this to erase or wash off very easily, I made sure to use a quote I liked. I found this design for the quote online but I changed it a little (the original one said "always" twice which didn't actually sound any better to me. As if saying it twice makes "always" an even longer amount of time).
In the Fall it makes me think of Thanksgiving. But during the rest of the year, it just reminds me to be more thankful for all I have! Mostly for my family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. But also for a furnace, an air conditioner, a full fridge, a car, and indoor plumbing. Yeah, after changing diapers and potty training my son, I will never not be grateful for indoor plumbing. lol.
