Painting Picture Frames

Today, I needed a break. I turned on the BYU Channel and there was a backyard renovation show on, which was exactly the type of thing I was in the mood to watch. Does anyone else feel like redoing their whole house after one half an hour episode? It's definitely motivating to me for some reason and I usually have to make sure I'm being realistic in the projects I can tackle alone and in a reasonable amount of time before I start taking a sledge hammer to our kitchen counters... Lol.

Well, this DIY I did a while ago was one of those "reasonable" projects. It was simple enough I could get it done in 24 hours or less with no help and still feel like I made some kind of small difference in our house's appearance. And all I had to do was paint a picture frame.

The frames I used were given to us from my parents and were originally red. Since I wanted to put up a gallery wall in our front room and wanted to use these frames, they needed to be black.

I bought the paint at the store and used a sponge brush to paint a first coat on the frames.

When they were dry enough, I added a second coat.

The only other thing I had to do before hanging them on the wall was glue some string on the back so I could hang them. Not the prettiest fix, but who sees the back anyway?...

With these picture frames painted and hanging on the wall, I just have to switch out a few more pictures and our gallery wall will be done!

I'm going to have to think of more small projects to do, or just stay away from HGTV for a while... so, hello Food Network! Haha!
