The One and Only "Brookie Cookie" is six! And she had a birthday for the record books.
On Monday night, we had her birthday dinner of spaghetti and cornbread. A day early since on her actual birthday the next day...
We went to Frontier Night with Julia and Tami at Aspen Grove!
Ever since John and I had kids, we knew we wanted to take them here some day to see where we met and have fun at Frontier Night. And since my sister Tami was working there this year, it seemed like the perfect time to do it!
After picking up our guest passes in the store, we had a dinner of chicken, brisket, green beans, pie, and cornbread (and the famous honey butter, haha!) and then headed to field for the rest of the fun. Among other things, our kids got to do gold panning, got balloon animals, rode a train, threw (kid) axes, branded a piece of leather with an Aspen Grove logo, watched the pie eating contest and even hit a piñata! It was a ton of fun and I'm so glad we went!
After all the Frontier Night fun, we went back to the staff common room with Tami to have cake and let Brooke open her presents. She specifically asked for a pink bubblegum cake this year, so I made a quick trip to Michael's for some pink bubblegum and fun sprinkles.
Also, Brooke's special request this year was a Doc McStuffins vet toy. She loves Doc McStuffins and for the past few years has wanted to be a doctor when she grows up because of it. Pretty lofty goals and I'm hoping she sticks with it!
And as if that night wasn't fun enough, Brooke got to have her first birthday party with friends this year! She helped plan and prepare for it all and was so excited for her friends to come. She wanted it to be a Princess Tea Party so everyone came dressed up in a princess dress. We had collected tea cups at the thrift store the month before and made a teapot piñata to hit. The girls also decorated crowns and played castle ring toss, pin the jewel on the tiara, and "Princess, Princess, Frog" (a variation of Duck, Duck, Goose).
After the games and piñata, We had our tea party with buttercream flower cupcakes. The girls were so cute and had a lot of fun!
Brooke is such a spunky girl which sometimes makes life frustrating, but always makes life exciting! Thank goodness, she can also be incredibly sweet when she wants to be. And with all the fun brothers she has, she brings the perfect amount of pink and sparkles I need in my life. Happy Birthday sweet girl!
