With this being my 5th pregnancy, I ended up doing things a little differently. And apparently, our little guy was thinking the same thing. Lol.
Although I got an epidural again and had the same doctor that delivered my last two, this time around I decided to be induced a few days before my due date. That way, the kids would be taken care of with no last minute babysitter and I would make sure we got to the hospital with plenty of time! Getting there and finding out I was at a 9 last time with Zack made me a little worried... Plus, who wouldn't love a few days less of being pregnant!
Well after a pretty normal delivery for me, little Samuel Lawrence was born! He weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz and was 21 1/4 inches long.
He is such a sweet little guy and we love that he's finally here!
Our sweet little Sam took longer to calm down than any of our other kids and cried quite a bit right after being born.
John also noticed a few hours later that his breathing seemed funny and made a ticking sound on his exhales. I thought it was a clock in the room, but he pointed out that there were no clocks in there...
Well, his breathing sounded more normal within a few hours and he was doing fine. All of little Sam's siblings got to come and meet him with Grandma Le Starge and Aunt Jenny which was so sweet!
I'm glad they made it by because later that evening, Sam's temperature started going up and after some tests, they found that he had a pneumothroax and pneumonia. Because of this, our sweet little Sam had to be admitted into the NICU.
After antibiotics and almost a week in the NICU, we were told that Sam would need to stay for an extra 5 days because his oxygen levels had dropped down to low and he wasn't able to bring them back up for a while. If this happened again, he would need to go on oxygen and get an MRI.
Thankfully that didn't happen and he was able to be discharged on Monday! Twelve days after being admitted into the NICU and he was finally home!
John and I love having our little Sam with us and so do the rest of his siblings. They ask if they can hold him multiple times a day and there have been plenty of times already that I have had to remind Zack to not hug him so tightly! He is definitely the most loved baby we have had in our house so far! Not sure if he'll love the invasion of personal space so much when he's older, but for now, he can't do much about it. Lol.
Welcome home, Sam!
