Once again, with the first month of the year brings the chance to celebrate a great kiddo in our family. Aaron!
For Aaron's birthday this year, he asked for a paw patrol themed chocolate mint ice cream cake. It was my first time trying a frozen buttercream transfer, and I was happy with how it turned out!
He also asked for spaghetti and my homemade rolls for dinner since his first choice of zucchini bread wasn't going to work out. One funny thing about the stage Aaron is in right now... he doesn't like sauce on things. He would 100% prefer plain noodles instead of noodles with any type of sauce on them! That being said, when he asked for spaghetti for dinner, he was really just specifying the type of plain noodles he wanted. Haha!
Aaron's actual birthday was pretty chill. His older siblings started back to school that day after the Winter Break and we picked up my sister Tami from the airport. Aside from the spaghetti dinner, he specifically asked for fish sticks for lunch... again with no sauce.
Since this is the year we are letting our kids have friend birthday parties, Aaron got to have his very first one!
Once again, he wanted it Paw Patrol themed. I planned a few games that were pretty easy to put together and also made a piñata. My original plan was to make it an asteroid (like from their Mighty Pups movie) since paper mache piñatas was the only kind I had ever made. Aaron asked if it would be possible to make it look like Chase and after looking up a video, I decided to give it a shot. It was made out of cardboard and turns out it was much easier than I thought it would be!
He also requested chocolate cupcakes with mint frosting and they were really good! We made our own cupcake toppers using stickers, toothpicks, and regular printer paper.
The last bit of birthday fun came when Aaron used the $5 ice cream money from a friend to get an ice cream cone. It was a very specific request Aaron had when his friend asked him what he wanted for his birthday. Aaron got his cone and declared that it was "the best day ever!" Haha!
Turning 5 means Aaron will be starting school after this summer. We will miss having him home so much, but I'm glad I have a little longer to enjoy having him around full time!
