Spider Cake

Halloween just passed and with all the costume preparing and the candy buying, I didn't actually have time to finish this cake until the day after Halloween. So... we'll be prolonging our spooky celebrations for a little longer this year.

To make this cake, I made a chocolate cake filled and iced with Oreo buttercream. I then used normal white buttercream to pipe "cobwebs" all over the cake and topped it with two plastic spiders.

About half way through, I started thinking that I should've just gone with the typical, neat spider web design. By the end, though, I think I made the right choice. It looked a little more spooky than cutesy... although not by much. lol.
