Medicine Cabinet Organization

Whenever I try to clean something like a closet or bookshelf, it usually ends up with me try to organize it more than just clean it. It almost always takes longer than I thought it would and eventually (after all the normal stuff is organized) I'm left with some random stuff that I'm not sure what to do with, but that I don't want to throw away yet... (hello, "everything drawer! Haha!). Not only that but sometimes, the place I "organized" turns into a mess again just a few weeks later... Like the bookshelf, which is my husband's version of the "everything drawer".

So, one place I decided to finally try to organize for good was our medicine cabinet. It was a mess. John and I had already organized it a few times before and it probably wasn't the best system. We had sorted everything into labeled zip-lock bags and put all the bags together into two boxes. The result was being able to find what you're looking for only after a 5 minute game of hide and seek with the band aid box. Honestly, it only took one time not being able to find the thermometer and the entire box was a mess again.

This time, we got some plastic drawer organizers to use... definitely an upgrade from the bags. After sorting everything out, I decided what to label the drawers and than I put everything away! There were a few things that either wouldn't fit in the drawers, or didn't fit in with the categories, so I put them into two small baskets we had.

Before (sadly, this was not exaggerated...)
After

So far, this has been a lot better! I still have to pull one organizer out to reach the one in the back, but we were doing that with the boxes before anyway, and I made sure to put the things we use the most in the front organizer.

I'm sooo glad this is done! Now I can move on to something else... like the bookshelf... again.
