Christmas and New Years Eve 2019

A new year is starting and I'm excited for all we've done and all that is to come!

In the past year, we've had a baby, gone on a fun trip to Dana Point, CA, had a family camping trip at the Tetons, had a family reunion in Arizona, and above all... John finished getting his Master's Degree! Which means freedom! Haha!

To celebrate Christmas this year, we drove to my parent's house in California to spend it with them. While there, we went to the Jelly Belly Factory...

Drove to the ocean where we found a starfish and John built a fire...

Went caroling and delivered Christmas plates, got ice cream at the local ice cream parlor...

Went to John's Incredible Pizza where I set the high score on the piano game and we won enough tickets for the kids to get a giant slinky, a unicorn ring, and a sticky hand,

And of course, opened presents on Christmas morning.

This year was awesome with a lot of great Santa gifts as well as fun gifts for each other.

One gift I gave my Grandma Grimes this year was a drawing I did. My Grandma said that my Aunt Silvia had a dream that my Grandpa was in Heaven surrounded by all the children that were waiting to come down to our families. They were talking and asking him questions about earth life and the families they would be in. When she was describing it, I thought it would make a nice drawing. I'm definitely not amazing, but I thought I did a good job of most of it.

Also, this year, John asked me to get him a new bike tire... He usually just asks for something useful... And I asked him for a nativity I saw. I love the positions of everyone in this nativity! Normally they look a little disconnected, but in this one, they look like the sweet family they were. Mary actually looks like his mom which is so sweet.

It was a long drive, but totally worth it to spend Christmas with my family. Not to mention, not having to deal with any of the snow back home all week! Haha!

Once we got home, it was back to life for a few days before celebrating New Years. We had New Years Eve like we usually do - with John's family and a bunch of friends. Everyone played pickle ball and board games. There's usually some random big group activity as well and this year it was dodge ball but with little foam darts instead. After that everyone played Witness Protection Program while another mom and I watched the younger kids (All the lights get turned off except for one room in this game, so the kids aren't too fond of it). Our original plan was for me to take our kids back to John's parent's house and get them to bed, but by the time we were done with everything except the Witness Protection Game, there was only half an hour before midnight anyway. We ended up getting to bed at 1:30 a.m. because Aaron woke up crying at 1 when we were finally in bed.

The next day we chilled at John's parents until about 4 p.m. playing games and talking about family history and memories while looking at some of John's parents' old photos. John's planning on digitizing all of them, so I guess he found his next long project. Lol.

Overall, it has been a great year and an awesome holiday season! And although it might seem crazy, I'm already starting to get ready for a few of next year's Christmas presents since a few of them will take a lot of work! I'm not giving away any hints though so everyone will just have to wait. How's that for anticipation?! Haha!
