I woke up to him handing me a stack of envelopes before he headed off to work. When I got up a while later (he leaves at 5:30 am so I usually just go back to bed) I saw that they were open when letters! Some of my favorite gifts from John have been open when letters so I was excited to see that he used this idea for valentine's day too!
This time, he added a little twist. Instead of the usual "open on your birthday" or "open when you're having a hard day" letters, they were all scheduled to be opened at different times throughout the day.
As the day went on, they led me to muffins and chocolate milk at breakfast time and then flowers (for Brooke too!), a cookies and cream bar, a pair of my broken earrings that John fixed, and a note around noon saying to come meet him for lunch that day. Sometimes he can get it off so we can eat together at the park or at home depending on how warm it is. Haha!
Later that evening, we were able to get a babysitter so we could go ice skating. It was only my third time, so I was pretty pumped that I didn't fall! Especially because I almost did at one point when I got some speed and tried to do that step over thing to turn slightly. It worked for the first 3 steps but then my toe pick hit the ice and I almost biffed it! I have no idea how I managed to stay up, honestly!
In the end, it was a great Valentine's Day this year and now the pressure is on for our anniversary. I'm in charge of planning it and I'm definitely not going to be able to top this last weekend. John is so creative and fun and I'm definitely a lucky girl to have him!
