But then, on Wednesday there was a 5.7 earthquake half an hour away from us! We were fine but it shook the kids up a little, especially with all the aftershocks during the day. And now people are swarming the stores again. Great.
Well, with all of that going on, this date night was just what we needed!
I actually had the thought to do this a while back, but didn't get around to it until this week. It worked out perfectly though since we're supposed to be staying home as much as possible anyway.
For this date night, John and I both looked up lists of jokes on our phones and took turns reading them to each other. If you laughed you would get a point and the first person with three points lost.
I wanted to have the loser drive to different stores until they could find a gallon of milk (Lol) but John said that only benefits me... (True). In the end, we agreed that the loser would have to give the winner a back scratch for 10 minutes.
I totally lost the first round! It was tough because just thinking about not laughing at dumb jokes was making me smile before we even started!
The joke that got me?...
Round two ended with John laughing first and then me. I almost made it past that one, but laughter is contagious!
Here's the joke that triggered it...
Round three was tricky because we had both had a while to get the giggles out of our system. After about ten minutes, we had to change the rule so that even if you just smiled, you would get a point. That made it a lot harder and stepped up the game!
John ended up laughing at this joke during round three...
The last round wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. We started running out of good "dad jokes" and were just looking up random jokes at this point. I ended up winning, barely, but honestly it should've been John. I was so bad at the first two rounds that I'm not sure how I was able to get it together so well in time for the end!
Not only was this date night free and a lot of fun, but it helped us keep smiles on our faces during such a strange time! Hopefully, things will go back to normal soon. In the meantime, I should start making a list of the funniest jokes in case John wants a rematch. I'm not sure if I could take him on again unprepared! Haha!
