2020 Family Portraits - Chalk Edition

I've been so busy I completely forgot to share what we did for family pictures this last summer!

First off, I have never really been one to do official family pictures with a photographer. Not because I wouldn't like them (pretty sure I would, haha!). It's actually mostly because my family would hate them.

John doesn't like the cost and the hastle, David complains any time he has to dress nice to take an extended family photo, and Brooke and Aaron are usually not looking at the camera or have random or silly faces. In the end, I don't even put up a fight and we ask someone to take a quick pic of just our family whenever we're all together at a reunion or something.

This summer, I actually made my family take some pretty informal family pictures and they turned out great! No one even complained. How did I do it? Chalk.

After seeing some of these chalk photos around on pinterest, I knew I wanted to take them at some point. And this ended up being the perfect time!

Here were all the pluses. No one had to leave the house or get dressed up, the kids had fun helping with some of the drawings, I took the photos myself on a ladder in the driveway (covid friendly!), aaaand we were able to use it as a fun pregnancy announcement as well (staring Costa Vida. Lol.)!

It was a win for everyone! And Aaron's face in the announcement was priceless. Haha!
