This year John and I hit 9 years in our marriage! And up until the night before, I had no idea what we should do...
It was my turn to plan it since John and I trade off who plans our anniversary and Valentine's Day every year. We had just had a date night on our own the weekend before (Thanks to John's parent's for watching the kids!) and I was having a hard time deciding what to do.
In the end, I had the idea to go on a picnic. We brought the kids along and went to a new park we had never been to. We got Subway and picked up sushi from Dick's Market (turns out they have $5 Sushi Wednesdays! So that was a score!). We also had some cookies, chips, and soda that John picked up for us as well as some cupcakes I made the day before and some crackers with a raspberry jalapeƱo jelly from New years that we still had.
The park we went to is right next to some hiking trails so after we ate and the kids played on the playground, we went on a hike!
Somehow, Aaron ended up in the car with no shoes on so that was fun... He also didn't want to be carried and was a silly kid walking barefoot over all the rocks and dirt paths the whole way. Funny kid!
We were racing the sunset on the way down, but we won!
Just like I said in my Mother's Day post, I feel like I am much more chill about holidays. It wasn't anything super fancy or expensive (not that it ever usually is anyway. Lol.), but it was still perfect.
John is the most amazing man I have ever known and I am so glad we get to spend this life and eternity together!
