So our David is finally 11! I'm sure I say this every year, but it's crazy to me that he's that old already!
True to the last few years, he asked for a regular cheesecake for his birthday cake along with chow mein, egg rolls, and potstickers for dinner. And since the rule is that dinner has to be their favorite "homemade meal" I decided to try my hand at making chow mein rather than make him pick something else.
I ended up making the recipe I found here and it was great! Definitely better than I expected and probably something I'll make again. As far as the cheesecake, I made the same one I made for my cousin's wedding a few years back that always turns out great! It was a lot of work, but worth it for Dave!
Since this is the year for friend birthday parties, David was between a few different ideas. In the end we went with a Harry Potter escape room and to be honest, it was big enough that I will give it it's own post. Needless to say, it turned out great and David had a blast!
On the day of his birthday, David had a state essay test at school. He was a little bummed about it, but took it like a champ and didn't complain. That just shows me once again how old he's getting!
Happy Birthday, bud!
