Bed Canopy DIY

Moving to a new house means starting over on house projects.

And even though we did a lot of updating at our old house, our new house doesn't need quite as much work, which means most of it is just for fun.

That being said, Brooke was super excited to redo her new room. Here's a quick preview of the end results.

We originally picked out some wallpaper she loved but after seeing how much it would cost just for the small wall with a window (around $300!) we found a much more affordable option with some wall stickers that she still loved just as much!

Another thing Brooke wanted to put in her room was a bed canopy. We had gotten a pink one at a friend's yard sale but over time the top had gotten torn. I started looking for ways we could still use it and came across a metal crown canopy frame online. With that as the inspiration, I hit the thrift store (as I often do with DIY projects) and found the perfect wire basket!

I used wire cutters to cut off one of the wire loops on each side and then bent it in so it was flat on one side.

After that, I cut the torn top off of the pink canopy and attached it to the basket frame with twist ties.

To attach it to the wall, we drilled three screws into the wall and simply hung the basket on the screws.

As a finishing touch, Brooke added some flower lights her Aunt Tami gave her for Christmas.

It turned out exactly how Brooke was hoping! And the wire basket only cost us $1.50!

Sometimes it just takes a little imagination and the thrift store to create something uniquely spectacular.
