Pumpkin Patch 2018

For the second time this year, my family surprised me and drove up to Utah last weekend (The first time was for my birthday in July!). My mom had been helping my sister in Idaho and my dad and sister were pretty bored in California, so at the last second Friday, they decided to hop in the car and drive to visit us!

Since we would only have one day with them before they had to head back home, we decided to go to a pumpkin patch. I had been to the pumpkin patch back home when I was younger, but this was the first time I went to a pumpkin patch in Utah. After looking a few up online, we decided to go to Gibson's Green Acres Dairy, Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch and I'm so glad we did! The corn maze was fun but not too long (they had a longer version and a shorter version) and the other activities they had were perfect for us to do with our kids. The only thing Brooke didn't really like was the petting zoo. She seriously started crying when John walked with her towards the donkey, but for some reason she loved watching the chickens. Lol.

David and Brooke's (and John's) favorite part was the giant slide they had. Brooke was scared at first but after the first time going down it, that was all she wanted to do. And David kept using his hands to push himself faster to try to beat the other people going down the slide. They also liked the corn (instead of sand) box and the water duck races.

When it was time to pick a pumpkin, we ended up going almost to the end of the pumpkin patch before David found his perfect pumpkin. As expected, it was pretty big! John asked him if there was a smaller one he'd like better since it was so big and we didn't have a wheel barrow. After that, he picked out the ugliest, wartiest pumpkin in the entire pumpkin patch! It was seriously so bumpy and ugly, I don't think we could have carved it. So... we went back to his first choice. Haha! Sweet John carried the whole thing back to the weigh area for David and he is so excited to carve it next week!

In the end, the pumpkin patch was a lot of fun! And for the decent price and all the activities they had for the kids, we will definitely be coming back to this pumpkin patch again!

The rest of the day included a family dinner with my Grandma Grimes, Aunt Silvia and cousin Natalie, and then David going with my Dad and two sisters to the BYU football game. I was nervous he would just be cold, tired, and cranky, but thankfully, David had a great time and is now an even bigger BYU fan (if that's possible. Haha!).

Overall, it made for a fun, but tiring weekend and now, I'm ready for another slower, stay at home week. Although, if they wanted to show up for Thanksgiving or Christmas, I definitely wouldn't be opposed. ;)
