Funny Kid Quotes 2018

With the new year starting, I thought it would be fun to look back at what happened last year, and also at all the funny and cute things our kids have said and done!

Here's David's contribution...

David: There's Everett Beverett!
Deb: It's just Everett.
David: I wish I had a cool name.
Deb: A cool name? Like what?
David: Like Coola Doola David!

David talking to Deb:
"I wish you and me were both little so we could both play with friends. But no, you can't. You're my mom so you're supposed to be big."

Deb: "Tate and Evan are you allergic to anything?"
Evan and Tate: "No."
David: "I'm only allergic to licking cars."
Deb: "Licking cars?"
David: "Yeah. That's the only thing I'm allergic to. That's why I don't do it."
Tate: "Me too."

David excitedly: do you want to watch the dragon show?
Deb: We can't watch that unless daddy's here with us because he wants to watch it too.
David: Oh, what I was going to say was do you want to watch Sofia, but I got a little carried away...

David: What's the best thing about being mommy?
Deb: That I get to hug my kiddos every day.
David: And get to eat candy a lot!!

John: David, I’d love it if you could learn to play the piano. I think it would be a very useful skill.
David: Uuuh, first off, I don’t even need skills.

David to mom and dad: "In heaven did I choose Brooke? Because she’s kind of funny and I think I chosed her."
July 2018

When asked if David wanted a brother or a sister next, he said he wanted a sister so Brooke would have someone to play with and she wouldn't mess up his toys so much. He later changed this to wanting a sister so Brooke would have someone to play with when he was at school every day.

While walking out of Smith's grocery store, David went into the jewelry store that is in the front of the store.

Every time David is asked what he thinks his newest sibling should be named, he says "Popcorn" if it's a boy and "Milk" if it's a girl. I told him that he could use Popcorn as a nickname, but we wouldn't be officially naming his brother that.
October 2018

David: "Mommy, are you coming with us to the see the Christmas trees?"

Grandpa Grimes: "Have you been good so you'll be on Santa's nice list?"
David: "Yeah, but I don't think Brooke is because she pinches me a lot."

Brooke's turn!

She wasn't old enough to talk very well until later in the year, so hers are more experiences...

Brooke loves to laugh with her brother. When we would drive in the car, since her car seat faces David's in the back seat, she would start screaming wars with him. Not angry yelling, just silly seeing who could yell louder. Thankfully, she switched to starting raspberry wars, although it doesn't take long before David is done with all the spit and Brooke wins!
July 2018

I came into the front room hearing David tell Brooke to "go to Mommy and she can get you a tissue." When Brooke came to me, she kept putting her finger up her nose and when I tried to blow it I noticed that her nose was very sticky all over! She said her nose hurt and she wouldn't stop crying, but I couldn't see anything in it. I then, realized that she had been walking around holding half of a gummy vitamin (that for some reason she wanted to play with instead of eat) which was now gone. I was a little nervous and wondering if I should take her to the doctor, but then I remembered an important thing. Gummies dissolve! Which meant, if that was really what was bothering her nose, it would eventually come out. Sure enough, about an hour later, it came out as a tiny piece of what was left of her gummy vitamin.

After getting the kids to bed and while sitting in her room, Deb saw Brooke poke her head around the corner of her doorway and then go back into her room. After about 10 seconds, Brooke slowly poked her head back out, looked at Deb for a second and then came into Deb's room holding 4 stuffed animals. She climbed up and sat on Deb's bed for a while and then Deb said, "Brooke, you need to go back to bed." To this, Brooke replied, "No thank you... No thank you Mommy." At least she's polite. Haha!
October 2018

About 20 minutes after putting Brooke and David to bed, Deb and John heard Brooke moving around in her room and then talking. When going in to check on her, John found that she had climbed up the ladder of the bunk bed, crawled over to where David was sleeping and was saying "Wake up!" over and over again.
November 2018

Deb to Brooke: "Brookie do you want a story tonight? Then you have to go lay down in your bed." Brooke: turns around, walks over to  her bed and drops her face and shoulders onto the blanket. Deb asked her what she was doing and she stayed there for a second before sighing and getting into bed. November 2018

Brooke: Eating half a York chocolate mint she found on mom's desk. Deb: "Hey, that's daddy's." Brooke: "uh-uh." Takes a bite and starts walking away Deb: laughs. "What's uh-uh?" Brooke: "I got it down." Deb: "You got it down so it's yours now?" Brooke: "yeah."
November 2018

Whenever Brooke's car seat slides a bit sideways in the car, she says, "My seat! My seat!" And one of us (usually David) will pull it back up so it's straight for her. Today, we forgot to switch the car seats back to the car Debbie has to drive and while waiting in the line to pick up David from school, Brooke said, "My seat! My seat!" Debbie turned around and Brooke was still buckled but laying sideways in her seat. Deb started laughing and told Brooke she wasn't in a car seat and could sit up. She sat up and smiled.
December 2018

Brooke went from calling Deb to "ma-ee" (leaving out the middle "m" in mommy), to "mommy" and then on to "ma-may" (cute but always sounded a little sassy for a 2 year old) and now just "mom". Deb's a little disappointed that she is still a 2 year old and has quit calling her "Mommy". Hopefully, she'll go back to using that name soon since David (who's 5 1/2) still calls Deb "Mommy".
December 2018

Just a little longer and we'll be adding a third little one to our list of funny and cute phrases and experiences! Here's to another year of fun and laughter with these kiddos!
