Having this blog hasn't only given me a fun and easy way to keep a journal, but it has also made me a little more accountable for finishing projects. Anyone that looks at my sewing stuff can tell that I'm not always a project finisher...
This particular project was something I decided to do quite a while ago.
And then like many sewing projects, it got thrown into a box until sewing motivation returned.
I guess I'm not really a "non-finisher" as much as a partial finisher at times. I usually finish projects, but unless there's a deadline or a specific need for me to complete it, there's no promise on when it'll be done.
I definitely get in specific project moods where I'll randomly bake a lot, sew a lot, or draw a lot in a week or two before moving onto the next category of things to do.
Well, this week, I hit another sewing mood and finally tackled this project. A pair of shorts for Brooke!
When I first got this shirt from my in-laws, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! (That is, after I tried it on and realized it did not look good on me. Haha!)
Being a little intimidated to sew a pair of shorts for the first time, I decided to buy a pattern online from Made Everyday (the same blog that I learned how to sew T-shirts from).
With the amount of fabric I had to use, I decided to cut the back pieces around the pockets or else I wouldn't have enough fabric. I thought this would turn out cute, but I was worried I wouldn't put them in the right place. In the end, they were a little high, but not terrible.
At the last second, I decided to add a liner since the fabric was a little thin.
Overall, I'm happy with how these turned out! And with the polka dot fabric, we've been calling them Brooke's "Minnie Mouse shorts" and now she's hooked! Not sure how to top that next time I sew a pair of pants...
