On Saturday, April 10th David was baptized and officially became a member of our church!
From the beginning, we have been very straight forward with him about this decision. We wanted him to know that it is completely his choice to be baptized and to understand the promises and blessings that come along with that decision.
We are happy he chose to be baptized and he told me afterward that he felt "happier than he has ever felt before."
To get ready for his baptism, we went to pick up his baptism jumpsuit at the church building. We had to get one for John too but there weren't very many sizes left. In the end, it was between a small and a 70's medium, complete with bell bottoms, a pointed collar, and a belt! We went with the small... Lol.
David was so excited for his baptism that he couldn't sleep very well the few nights before.
On the day of, he spent some time with his Grandma and Grandpa Grimes and Aunt Julia in the morning buying a bird feeder with his siblings at the store. Sounds random, but my parents really wanted to get one for our kids. That afternoon was spent getting the food ready and the house cleaned. Thankfully since I was 2 days away from my due date with our 4th baby, Julia helped me get ready a ton! Seriously would've been dead tired or delivered early without her. Haha!
Around 4 pm we headed to the church building. Since things are a little different with covid, we had a scheduled time just for him and had to keep masks on.
John baptized David a member of our church and then they went into the bathroom to change out of their wet clothes. I could hear David sounding upset about something. I asked John later and it turns out David was so excited to come out and be confirmed that he didn't want to spend the time to put on his shoes and tie. John got him to dress all the way but he still just had his shoes barely on with his heels sticking out the back. Haha!
After David was confirmed a member of the church by John and given the gift of the Holy Ghost, we took a group picture and then headed home for dinner. We all got to visit and had pulled pork sandwiches with fruit, salad, coleslaw, and chips and dip. It was fun getting together with family now that most of us have had the covid vaccine!
David was so happy he was baptized and was able to write about it in a journal John's family gave him. We are so proud of him and the good choices he has made.
