I have so much fun re-reading all of the silly and sweet (and sometimes sassy...) things my kids have said and done in the last 12 months.
It's a good reminder to make sure you don't take yourself too seriously and don't forget to laugh!
With that being said, here are David's contributions:
David: "Daddy can I have a cookie?"
John: "No, you already had some and it's almost dinner time."
David: "But I'm so hungry I'm gonna starve!"
John: "Well, David you've lived a nice long life as a five-year-old."
1-10-19
David: "Hi baby poo!"
Deb: "David don't call him that."
David: "But he always poops!"
Deb: "So do you."
David: "Oh... I forgot."
2-1-19
Deb:
This pretty much sums up having a 5 year old boy...
I was making lunch in the kitchen when Alexa says... "I'm reminding you... fart."
Can't even get mad at him for that one. Haha!
2-2-19
David: "St Patrick's day is coming up. "
Deb: "Yep. It's on Sunday."
David: "Yeah, and did you know in one country potatoes are really cheap!"
Deb: "Oh!"
David: "And that's why we celebrate... with all the green."
3-11-19
David: "I know why you love daddy. Because you have trouble doing some stuff."
Me: "Buddy I married daddy before I needed help with everything."
David: "Yeah but he always helps you. That's why you kind of like him."
4-25-19
David: "Want to know what the first car that was built was? It was like a wagon but with a horse riding it."
Deb: "So like a Horseless wagon?"
David: "Yes."
5-21-19
David: "When I grow up, I want to build trains."
Deb: "Oh, for your job? That would be cool."
David: "Yeah, but there's just one other one I'm depending on." (He meant debating)
Deb: "What?"
David: "A rock star."
7-24-19
David asked if he could eat a piece of bacon Debbie cooked, but she needed it for a recipe and said no. He started eating one anyway and got in trouble. Then, when Debbie ran to the store to get an ingredient she forgot, David tried asking John for a piece. He said no, and David tried to sneak one anyway and got in trouble. He had to sit in his room on time out and at dinner time, he said he needed some alone time and went outside. The doorbell rang and we found a note that said "I will only come back if you [give me bacon]."
7-25-19
David: "Where's daddy?"
Deb: "He's in the bathroom."
David: "What's he doing in there?"
Deb: "It's the bathroom. What do you think he's doing?"
David: "Ohhhhh... he's fixing the sink."
7-30-19
David: "Mommy, do you ever wonder how many kids you'll have?"
Deb: "Yeah, sometimes. How many do you think we'll have in our family?"
David: "Well, if God blesses you a lot... you'll probably have like 15."
8-7-19
Deb: "So David, what did you do recess today? Did you play with Jackson?"
David: "Yeah. We just runned from Charlotte the whole time."
Deb: "Oh. Why did you run from her? Were you playing tag?"
David: "No."
Deb: "Then why did you run from her?"
David: "Because of the "kuh" word."
Deb: "What's the "kuh" word?"
David: "Ker-uh-sh""
Deb: "Crush? Does Charlotte have a crush on you?"
David: "Yeah. That's why I run from her whenever I see her."
A few days later David said that he ran from Charlotte at recess again but that he doesn't mind it because it's kind of fun.

Next up, Brookie!
Brooke came up to Debbie who was standing in her room and hugged Deb's legs. She then looked up at Deb for a few seconds and said "you are way too tall."
2-7-19
Deb: "Brooke, why do you keep calling me Debbie today?"
Brooke: "Because you're a big girl."
Deb: "Oh, and you're a big girl too?"
Brooke: "Yeah!!!" :)
4-27-19
Brooke came over and put a sticker on Deb's forehead and smiled.
Deb: "Thanks! Do I look beautiful?"
Brooke: "No. You look... weird."
6-12-19
Brooke talking to her cousin: "I like you Peter... because you're different. You're MY different."
8-5-19
Brooke came into the kitchen while Deb was washing dishes.
Brooke: "Mommy, can you play some ballerina music?"
Deb turned on some classical music. Brooke smiled and walked over to the fridge. She put her hand on the freezer handle and started pointing her toes at her knee and the ground like a ballerina.
8-14-19
After Brooke was put to bed, she got back up and started playing in the living room.
Deb: "Brooke, do you want to go back to your bed on your own or do you want me to carry you?"
Brooke: "Those aren't my choices. My choices are to keep playing or to bounce."
Deb: "No, your choices are to go to bed on your own or have me carry you to your bed. If you don't choose I'll choose for you."
Brooke: "Mommy, if you keep talking to me that way I'm going to choose and I choose playing."
11-1-19
Aaron babbling in the car: "Nanananana"
Deb talking back to Aaron: "Nananananana"
Brooke to Deb very matter of factly: "Mommy. You are not a baby."
11-5-19
Julia: "Brooke, does my hair look pretty?"
Brooke: "...No. It looks like you got something in it and it got all messed up."
Julia has very curly hair and Brooke's is stick straight.
12-28-19
Brooke bumped her head while she, Aaron, and Deb were playing in her room. She started crying and laid down on her bed. Aaron stopped what he was doing, crawled over to her bed and pulled himself up to be standing by it. He then baby talked/coo'd at her, trying to talk to her so she would feel better. When she didn't answer right away, he tried to pat (sort of baby hit) her hair to get her attention. It's the youngest I've ever seen someone look like they were trying to console someone else.
10-20-19
Aaron is able to crawl but can't walk yet. He likes to come into the guest room while Deb is sewing and start to play with the sewing machine by banging on it with his little hands and pulling tools out of the drawer on it (Deb makes sure the needle is down and he won't get hurt). Because of this, Debbie tries to keep the guest room door shut. On this day, Debbie walked into the hallway and saw that the door was open and Aaron was crawling in the doorway of the guest room. Deb called Aaron's name and he turned his head around, saw Deb, and started trying to push the door closed with him inside the room. He gave up when he realized he wasn't strong enough and kept crawling towards the sewing machine anyway.
10-31-19
Aaron was a candy cane magnet at Christmas time. We would see him with a candy cane and take it away. In only a few short minutes we would come back into the room and see him with another one having no idea where it came from.

With how crazy and stressful life can be at times, I'm so glad I have such a fun and great family! They definitely know how to bring a smile to someone's face!
And that someone is me. Lol. :)

These are so funny!!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I think David's Alexa quote is one of my favorites. It was just so unexpected! That and his demand for bacon. Haha!
